Craft Amador Winery Produces Best of Region Wines

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

Feist Wines, a small lot winery just off Main Street in Sutter Creek, received two Best of Class awards from The California State Fair Wine Competition as well as receiving the award for best of class for Zinfandel at the Amador County Fair.

The State Fair award winners for best of class are the Feist 2018 Rose and 2018 Viognier. The Rose is made of Primitivo grapes from the Amador County’s Shenandoah Valley. The wine has bright acidity and vibrant fruit with aromas of raspberry and honeysuckle. The Viognier is light and fruity with citrus notes.  An appellation must have a minimum of 20 wineries enter the State Fair Competition for a Best of Class to be awarded. Both of these wines were awarded gold medals. The Rose won best of class amidst 495 entries for the Sierra Foothills appellation. The Amador County Fair allows judges the discretion to choose a Best of Class for each category.

Feist hosts a myriad of concerts and offers farm to fork wood fired pizza on Friday and Saturday nights. Performances at the tasting room range from the best local musicians in the county to Grammy award winners on tour.
